Component Inspection
An inspection request should identify what needs to be checked and the specification it will be checked against. A drawing revision, dimensional requirement, or defined component characteristic provides a clearer starting point than a general request to verify quality.
Endries can discuss component inspection requirements with your team. The applicable method, sampling basis, acceptance criteria, and report requirements need to be established for the part and program. If your request specifies a test method or standard, include it at the outset so the available support can be confirmed.
Initial Sample Inspection Reports
An initial sample inspection report, or ISIR, can provide component information for your team’s review before a new or drawing-specific part moves further into a program. Endries offers customer-specific initial sample inspection reports, with the required content and scope confirmed for the request.
Identify the drawing revision, characteristics to report, and any customer quality requirements. An initial sample report supports your review, but its availability does not establish that every element of a broader customer approval process has been completed.
BOM Rationalization
Manufacturer-provided records and Endries inspection results serve different purposes. When requesting documentation, specify the record you need, the part or lot it should cover, and how your team intends to use it.
For imported or drawing-specific components, discuss documentation and initial inspection needs during sourcing. Manufacturer-report availability and any additional review depend on the applicable part and supply arrangement. Lot Traceability and Related Records
A useful traceability discussion goes beyond asking whether a part has a lot number. Your team may need to connect a shipment to a supplier lot, an inspection record, or another defined source record. Explain which connection you require and how the information needs to be provided.
Discuss lot-identification and documentation requirements with Endries before ordering. The relevant record coverage, access, and handling requirements should be confirmed for your program rather than assumed to apply uniformly to every product or location.
Country-of-origin documentation is a separate requirement from lot traceability. If origin information is needed, identify the documentation your team expects. For components with shelf-life or preservation requirements, also specify the applicable conditions so the available controls can be reviewed.

Supplier qualification often involves both company-level evidence and part-specific records. A quality management system certificate helps your team evaluate the organization and activities within its stated scope. It does not replace inspection evidence for a particular component.
If your requirement calls for accredited laboratory work, identify the method and accreditation scope you need. Laboratory accreditation applies to specified activities, so the relevant facility and scope must be confirmed for the request.

What information should you have ready?

Which records can I request for a specific component?
Describe the record you need and the part or lot it should cover. Endries can confirm availability and the applicable scope. Manufacturer documents, inspection results, and initial sample reports should be requested by their specific purpose.
How should I define a lot-traceability requirement?
Explain which records need to be connected to the supplied components and what identification must accompany the shipment. Discuss these requirements before ordering so the coverage and documentation can be confirmed.
What if I have a concern about a component already supplied?
Contact your Endries representative with the part number, order reference, lot information where available, and a clear description of the concern. Ask how to provide supporting photographs, records, or other material through the appropriate channel.
When should Engineering be involved?
If the question concerns component selection, fit, assembly, or a proposed design change, Endries Engineering Services may be the appropriate resource. Inspection evidence and application validation address different questions, and some requests may require both Engineering and Quality input.
